Taken from the 2010 tour. I’m not sure who designed this poster – Shane, perhaps? Also, the imagery puzzles me too. Is it a representation of the four principles in the band I wonder?

Thanks Ben!

Here’s a poster for the band’s gig at Dante’s, Portland Oregon – part of the the 2004 tour which included over 50 appearances in Spain, England, Scotland and North America. This tour was the band’s first in support of fourth album, ‘Weightlifting’ and it was prior to the single, ‘All The Dark Horses’ being released the following year in the US.

More thanks go to Ben ‘Tour Manager’ Marts for sending this through.

In 2004, during the months of September and October, The Trashcans toured the USA and Canada for the first time since 1993, playing 26 dates in all. This was the first tour in support of fourth album, ‘Weightlifting’.

October 10 saw the Trashcan limo roll into San Diego, CA – stopping off at the M Theory Music store and KBZT Radio earlier in the day before heading to play a sold out gig at Cane’s Bar and Grill.

Here’s the promo poster for the gig. I’ve no idea who designed it, but I like it.

The tour of 2004, as a whole, saw the Trashcans making over 50 appearances in countries including Spain, England, Scotland and North America.

Canes bar and grill 101004cA wee footnote: (They’re floating above us) is a line taken from the Mekons’ 1988 single ‘Ghosts of American Astronauts’. You can have a wee listen to it here. And if you like it, you can download the Trashcans’ version here. Recorded straight from the soundboard at Fez, New York in April 2004 – it’s a belter!

Manchester’s ‘In The City’ International Music Convention was organised in 1992 by Yvette Livesey and Anthony H Wilson after the latter had attended New York’s New Music Seminar a few years earlier. Depending on who you spoke to, it was either a vibrant forum for new music and new ideas, a shambolic talking-shop or a slick PR job for Factory records – take yer pick but I’d go for the last one.

Hosted at various venues across the city, it ran for five days and cast a beady eye over the arguments, the scandals, the bands and the doings of the ‘major players’ and ‘important movers’ et al in the music industry.

It’s still going strong too. More info here..

Anyway, back to 1992. Top of the bill (but of course) at Manchester University was The Trashcans, ably supported by The Stairs, Anna and The Frank & Walters for what was the ‘Go! Discs Presents’ showcase.

Here’s what Iestyn George from the NME had to say…
