This cassette from Turkey is quite different from the regular UK release, as you’d expect, but the inner J-card is much the same.

Delightful.

Released in the Summer of 2004 this was a single track promo CD sent to hip and cool radio stations for a wee spin before the release of fourth album ‘Weightlifting’.

There’s not much to it, just the plain old CD and a photocopied insert.

It’s rare!

…of world domination? Mmmm, perhaps not.

One of my earlier posts will give you all the info you need on the Westwood One Radio Networks.

This is another rare CD which includes the tracks ‘Iceberg’ and ‘Remember Phil’. The latter, as you well know, is in fact ‘Twisted And Bent’ – but when this acoustic session was recorded the song had no official title. It is introduced by Frank as a ‘world exclusive’ and is rather good.

Both tracks eventually appeared on the 7-inch vinyl bootleg which accompanied some copies of the Autopsy fanzine. More on both of these here and here.

This Japanese release of second album ‘I’ve Seen Everything’ will be a rare sight to most as not too many of them were pressed.

The packaging is almost identical to the standard US and European releases apart from the obvious record label details. It also comes with a fold-out Japanese lyric sheet.

Very nice it is too.

One From The Vault

Westwood One is America’s No.1 Radio Network and in 1991 the Trashcans paid them a visit to record a live session.

The show – called The Vault – had 6 segments from different artists featuring a short intro and outro from the announcer and then a live song.

On this CD we have an excellent acoustic version of ‘Only Tongue Can Tell’ from their debut long player ‘Cake’. These CDs are extremely rare and hard to find radio shows with only a limited number made for radio stations that would play this type of music and stations that subscribed to the Westwood One radio network services.

Other artists on the show – which was broadcast in February 1997 – included Devo, Midnight Oil, Living Colour and eh, Culture Club.

Magic!
