A soundtrack EP to ‘Spooktime’ – a fifteen minute short film inspired by characters who appear on the album ‘A Happy Pocket’.

‘Spooktime’ was written and conceived by Scottish director, John McFarlane, along with Paolo Hewitt (Oasis and Paul Weller biographer) and Tony Crean (Go! Discs’ Head of Marketing). The songs on the CD provide a musical backdrop to the film which is crammed full of drugs, violence, sex and murder.

The film also played at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The brainchild of Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble, ‘Ballads Of The Book’ began as a simple idea to bring together the literary talents of Scotland’s writing community with a diverse range of new and established recording artists.

This is the 18-track promo CD which includes the Trashcans’ interpretation of the Ali Smith poem ‘Half An Apple’ – a simple, bittersweet love song about keeping half an apple spare for a loved one who is gone.

This song was originally written for folk singer Kate Rusby, but eventually made its way into the hands of the Trashcans, who turned it into a melancholic ballad.

The slide guitar on this song is magic.

4-track debut EP in picture card sleeve with lyrics.

The CD has degraded a bit through time – probably a reaction to the card – but it still plays and sounds as good as new.

‘Midnight at the Troubadour’ was filmed during three sold-out shows in 2004 at the Troubadour in Hollywood, California. Quite an achievement for the Trashcans at the time, as many people thought the band were extinct.

The booklet that accompanies this DVD gives a brief synopsis of the band’s history and explains at length how the Troubadour concerts materialised – 11 years or so after their last gigs in California.

Welcome back indeed!
