Five Hungry Joes – A pictorial archive of the Trashcan Sinatras. Legendary Scottish Band

Gabba! Gabba! Hayfever

Deadline was a British comic magazine published between 1988 and 1995. Much of the its non-strip content centred on alternative and indie music.

It was most famous for being the original home of the popular strip Tank Girl, co-created by Jamie Hewlett, an English comic book artist and designer, who more recently is known for his work with virtual band Gorillaz – but you knew that already didn’t you.

Every so often Deadline would give away a free tape to promote the current crop of indie artists doing the rounds. This one includes ‘One At A Time’ by the Trashcans alongside tracks from the Ramones, Inspiral Carpets, Soft Parade, Frank & Walters and The Stairs.

This cassette from Turkey is quite different from the regular UK release, as you’d expect, but the inner J-card is much the same.

Three In The Park

This triple CD showcased some of the bands who played Scotland’s ‘T In The Park’ festival in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Featured here are tracks from artists as diverse as Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Radiohead and, eh, Kylie Minogue.

The Trashcans’ ‘Twisted And Bent’ is included on the second CD from their performance at the festival in 1995.

This release was available on CD, Vinyl and Cassette formats, although it should be noted that these are not live tracks, just the standard studio recordings I’m afraid.

A great compilation all the same.

Below is the cassette version where the box lists the featured track as ‘Hayfever’.

Vinyl anyone?…
