Finally – after some typical Trashcan teething troubles – the fifth studio album ‘In The Music’ was released at the end of April 2010 in North America and Canada through the band’s UK record label Lo-Five Records, with digital distribution available through Ingrooves (it should be available at every digital download site you can think of) and physical distribution via Fontana (part of Universal Music Group).
ITM, in my opinion, is their best to date and on the US release there’s the added bonus of eight tracks. These were recorded on November 23 and 25, 2009 at Brel in Glasgow. ‘Send For Henny’ featuring Eddi Reader is worth the shipping cost alone. These songs should also feature in a proposed release later in 2010 entitled ‘Brel’ – a kind of brother or sister (you choose) to ‘Fez’.
The artwork and packaging – designed by the mighty Emlyn Firth – is magic (negative type et al) and comes in a digipak sleeve with a little cutout pocket to hold the lyric booklet – nice!

Limited to 2,000 copies, the deluxe edition of ‘In The Music’ is quite stunning.
The packaging is different from the regular release – it comes in a hand stamped paper bag (Led Zeppelin’s ‘In Through The Out Door’ springs to mind.)
A card collector’s box houses the CD and includes a 52 page numbered booklet of photos, lyrics and the names of over 900 loyal fans who have given their support to the band over the years.
As an extra bonus, 250 lucky souls had their copy autographed by the band.
The booklet includes notes from the band explaining how the album developed. Andy Chase explains how he came to produce the album and Emlyn Firth gives a detailed account of the background to the design of the packaging – which adds a real personal touch to the album.
Two extra tracks – ‘I Can’t Stand Tomorrow’ and ‘I Just Don’t Know How’ – are also included, in what has to be the band’s best long player to date.
Get In(to) The Music – you’ll like it.
We’d like to thank you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you – oh, and not forgetting you!

Released in the UK only as a 1-track radio promo, ‘All The Dark Horses’ was surprisingly the only single from fourth album ‘Weightlifting’.
Photographs by Martin Gray. Sleeve design by Emlyn Firth.
Some copies, like this one, came with a press release…
